Changing the future for 163 girls

Seng Girls Vocation Training School (SGVTS) is aiding 163 girls to further their education and acquire a future through skills and self development. 104 of these girls live in the girls school in Quinghai with the remaining spread across China in advanced learning opportunities. SGVTS has 14 teachers to help bring a strong education foundation to these girls who have had limited opportunity to go to school. Below is a letter from one of the teachers of the school. Also, one of the girls who is in her second year at the school wrote and we would like to share this with the Captivating world.

“My name is Dan Zeng and I’m responsible for school management work, and also serve as the Tibetan teacher for third and fifth grade students at Seng Girls School. In 2009 I came here. Our school has been changing throughout the years I have been here with more experienced teachers wanting to work here and more students having the opportunity to study outside of Qinghai to pursue their dreams.”

“Tibetans are a nomadic people living in the alpine zone, sparsely populated. Tibetan children enrolment rate is low. Many herdsmen’s children can’t go to school due to poor conditions and many school age children lost opportunity to learn. Out of passion about education for these Tibetan children, I have stayed at Seng Girls School. Everyone here works hard and solves difficulties together, as if the school is a big family.”

“This year is the School’s 10th anniversary celebration. There are many people from the government and community who pay much attention to our school and I hope our school, with the help of the community will grow bigger and be able to help more children to receive education and find their life goals and dreams. Thanks to Captivating fund, thank you for all of the sponsors who has been helping Seng Girls School these years. Without your support, everything couldn’t be possible.”

“My name is Tsiring Yong Tso, am 9 years old, I study in Grade Two in the new semester. On March of 2014 I was accepted to join Seng Girls School, and I like my school, we have amiable teacher, united students. We live and study together, like a family. I am very happy in school, these pictures show what I do every day. After getting up, my classmate and I wash ourselves together in the morning. My breakfast is steamed bread and tea milk, I can eat two breads. We have different classes. During the class break, my friends and I play games. I was painting flowers on a classroom blackboard, but sometimes my teacher doesn’t allow us to sketch on the blackboard. When the weather is good in the afternoon, I wash my hair and then big sister (elder student) help me make braids. This is my bedroom. Thanks to my sponsor, because of you I am able to study and have a wonderful life here.”
