2018 Greenhouse Construction Program - let the fun begin!

With the long Qinghai winter coming to an end, so starts the beginning of what will be a very active greenhouse construction summer for Captivating and our local charity partner, Shamtse. As we write this, 141 families (mostly single mother households) are waiting in great expectation for their Captivating greenhouse to be constructed.

500 walkers from SCIE raise funds to see girls get back to school

On the 2nd of April, 500 students, parents and teachers from the Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) walked 10km in just 2 hours to raise funds for Captivating. Together, they raised over RMB109,818. We think you are all amazing!

Health checks, medicine and health training help 140 women

One of the women who participated in the program was a 41 year old single mother with three children. This woman was illiterate, had never been to school and spent her days taking care of her sick mother.

240 women receive much needed "Healthy Village" help

Over 240 Mongolian women participated in the Healthy Village Program earlier this year. After the training session, over 180 of them also received a medical health check throughout the two days the medical team were in the township. The majority of the women are illiterate and for many of them this has been the very first time they received a health check.

My First Job program - Getting women into jobs

After successfully completing the My First Job Home Services training program, 10 women are already in jobs. Their lives have turned around. Many of these women are illiterate and have never been to school.

At Captivating, our goal is to help equip girls with education and skills that will sustainably open doors for them. Our aim is to give them opportunities that will give them wings to soar.  7 girls have been studying nursing over a four year vocational program, and we are so proud of all their achievements.

Tailoring at SGVTS

6 girls were in the tailoring class this past year at Seng Girls Vocational Training School. Throughout the year, the girls learned how to make small Tibetan jackets and Dragon King’s treasure bags.

MY BUSINESS - MY FREEDOM

Jyoti's tea-shop has changed her whole world

My name is Jyoti, I am now a new member of one of the women’s groups in the Captivating/3AN microfinance program called My Business My Freedom in Nepal. I am married with a daughter and two sons. My husband has no source of income and work is difficult to find. I decided to start my own business so I borrowed Rs.5,000 (US$48) from a friend to start a tea-shop. I thought this would be a good way to earn money for my family.
