Three precious months have passed since the second batch of Husky Energy (now a member of the Cenovus group of companies) Tailoring Skills Program for Women started. Twenty-nine trainees, composed of young women and mothers, are now ready to start anew with their acquired skills.

Earlier in August, the second round of Husky Energy (now a member of the Cenovus group of companies) Tailoring Skills program started. More than halfway into the program and we have seen great progress no only in the trainees' sewing skills, but also in their attitude towards learning.

Thirty women aged 19 to 38 years old started in the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program in May, most of them having limited educational background. But all of them share the same goal, that is, to learn a skill to live on, provide for their children's education, and uplift their family's situation.

On May 1, 2021, the three-month Cenovus Tailoring Skills Program for Women in two regions officially began. The trainees have been taking their classes seriously and are helping each other a lot. We are proud to share the progress they have made in the past one and a half months.

Right now preparations are well underway for the 4th Husky (now part of the Cenovus group of companies) Tailoring Program for Women, Qinghai Province, China. Chosen from among many applicants, 30 women from underprivileged backgrounds will eventually be selected as the next group to commence their training.

Drolmatso, 27, lives with her family of seven members in a remote area. She mostly stays home to take care of the household, look after their children and send them to school, and assist her elderly in-laws. They solely depend on her husband and the income he earns from his part-time jobs. Because of this, Drolmatso wishes to learn a new skill which she can use to earn a living and help lessen her husband's burden of supporting the whole family.

Quijangtso first applied in the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women in 2019 with the recommendation of the project coordinator and teachers. Faced with a lot of challenges, Quijangtso did not back down and continued to persevere.
