My First Job Trainees Succeeds through Midterm Evaluation

The first My First Job Assistant Chef Program of 2021 for women in agricultural and pastoral areas in Qinghai Province officially opened in May 1. With the support and cooperation of teachers and local coordinators, the training has been going smoothly. Each of the women has her own learning style and pace, but everyone strives to improve each day. After one and a half months of training and practice, the women have learned 16 dishes in total. 

On June 14, the midterm evaluation for the trainees was conducted.

A Restaurant Owner in the Making

Womokyid, 29, lives in the province with her family and aging parents. When she was younger, her father had an accident at work leaving him unable to work. Because of this, Womokyid had to stop school so she can help her mother take care of her father and earn income for their family. Now that she has a family of her own, her desire is to start a small restaurant of her own so can take care of her family while also earning a stable income.

One Year On and Thriving

In July 2019, 120 women joined the My First Job Assistant Chef Program, spread out across four programs held in different regions. Sixty of these women have already concluded their internships. Among them is Sonam, who is now thriving in the restaurant where she works. Here is her story.

Diligent Mum Now with Stable Employment

When she first joined the My First Job Assistant Chef Program, she was nervous and worried that she would slow down the class' progress because other women may already be more skilled than her. Dongzhikyid doubled her efforts, working diligently everyday on the assignments the teacher gave them, and was able to keep up with everyone else.
