Dedicated Student and Role Model Mom

Although life in the countryside is free and happy, economic development here apparently cannot keep up with the rhythm outside, and the cultural gap is tremendous. The financial pressure is increasing every year, and sometimes life gets very difficult and confusing for me. I am Datintso. I am 22, and this is my story.

Single Mom Now Fully Employed

Kanzhe is a single mom to her 3 year old son. As a girl she only had the opportunity to go to school until grade 6. Because of her lack of education, very few opportunities were available to her to support herself and her son. In July 2019, she joined the My First Job Assistant Chef Program and is now fully employed.

Skill Building Brings Confidence

When women are equipped with employable / income-generating skills, we not only give them a chance to make a living for themselves and their families; we also help build their confidence in themselves and in what they are capable of. The My First Job Assistant Chef program is bringing skills and opportunities to young women.

Bringing Hope and Change to Lhamo

Lhamo is one of the current trainees at the My First Job Program. Although she admits that she learns at a relatively slower pace than the rest of the women, she is determined on improving herself. One of our staff, Francine, went to visit and chat with her to see how she's doing in the program.

Unstoppable Determination

Sonam is a single mom of two children. She had to drop out of school when she was just in the second grade. Because of this, she had limited options for employment. When she was introduced to the My First Job Program, she did everything she could to make sure she could attend each training sessions and learn as much as possible.
