Children's Day Celebration Bonfire Fun

The annual Children's Day Celebration brings an atmosphere of holiday happiness everywhere on the campus at Seng Girls Vocational Training School (SGVTS). Teachers and students worked together to gather the firewood. The fire was big and strong. Teachers and students formed a circle and began to do Guozhuang dance. This year's Children's Day ended in a happy Guozhuang dance!

The "My First Job Program" has changed my life

Wango is the best student in the My First Job Assistant Chef program. She is a fast leaner and all the food she cook is always delicious. Wango takes the My First Job classes seriously and works really hard to learn everything she possibly could. It takes her 1 hour by motorcycle from her home to attend class everyday.

A brand new future for a single mom with 3 children to support

Chogkyid beams as she tells us how grateful she is for this opportunity to learn a skill. “Cooking looks easy, but is quite hard. I especially need to learn to control the heat. It's very important in stir-frying. I've never cooked with vegetables before so this is an exciting time for me. In just a short few months, I have successfully learned to cook 22 different dishes. This is something I never thought I'd be able to do." When Chogkyid completes her training and internship, Shamtse [Captivating's in country partner] will help her secure her first job. She will be able to earn a good income, repay her debt and provide a bright future for herself and her children.

Medical Internship

Dandur Tso comes from a family of 8 people. The family was in poverty and were not able to provide for their children. Dandur was accepted into the Seng Girls Vocational Training School in 2007. After six years of primary education, she was supported through a Medical school where she discovered her love of medicine. She is currently completing her internship in a hospital and will graduate in July 2019.

My name is Drolma and I come from Qinghai Province. I’m nineteen this year and now a vocational school student majoring in pharmacy with another 10 girls from the Captivating Vocational Scholarship School Program. I have been out of school for four years, so I both excited about this chance but also nervous whether I am good enough to keep up after such a long break.

30 women receive Assistant Chef training -

I am a single mom with 3 children. After the birth of our 3rd daughter I became barren and couldn't provide my husband with a son, so he left me. I have never been to school so I am unable to find work to support myself and my daughters. I want the best for my girls and I know it's not possible without a good education. I need to find work to be able to send my daughters to school. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the My First Job Assistant Chef program. I am learning skills that I am confident will be able to provide me with a good job. I am not property. My children are the most important thing to me. I am happy that I will be able to be independent and provide them with a good future.
