On the 2nd of April, 500 students, parents and teachers from the Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) walked 10km in just 2 hours to raise funds for Captivating. Together, they raised over RMB109,818. We think you are all amazing!

After successfully completing the My First Job Home Services training program, 10 women are already in jobs. Their lives have turned around. Many of these women are illiterate and have never been to school.

At Captivating, our goal is to help equip girls with education and skills that will sustainably open doors for them. Our aim is to give them opportunities that will give them wings to soar. 7 girls have been studying nursing over a four year vocational program, and we are so proud of all their achievements.

6 girls were in the tailoring class this past year at Seng Girls Vocational Training School. Throughout the year, the girls learned how to make small Tibetan jackets and Dragon King’s treasure bags.

Last year Dawa taught English at a summer camp with her English teacher. Then it became time to do her internship. Dawa chose to do her internship at SGVTS.

Drolmajyid is a single mother of 3 children. She is 35 years old and has never been to school. Her 2 sons are going to to school however she isn't able to send all her children to school so her 8 year old daughter is not attending school.

72 girls from various remote village locations of Western China are now back in school (and doing well) thanks to generous sponsors and a wonderful support charity called SHAMTSE. Each one of these girls had already dropped prematurely from school due to varying situations with all of them mourning the end of their dream of a higher education. Well, dreams can still come true it would seem.

Getting a chance to visit and chat to the My First Job girls was such a special and rewarding experience for me. Hearing first hand stories of girls needing to leave school at grade 3 because of family needs, domestic abuse, being severely burnt by a stepfather and never wanting to show your face in public, coping with single motherhood living in tents on the grassland with no food to supply your children was heart breaking.
