Being part of the My First Job Assistant Chef Program has changed my life. Although I am not good at reading and writing, I am proud that I am learning these things as well as a skill that will help me secure a good job that will give me financial security.
After a lot of preparatory work, the first My First Job Tailoring Project in 2022 was officially launched on January 15. This week marks the start of training for 30 women whose lives are about to change as they learn about the employable skill of tailoring.
My name is Lhamotso and I am 22 years old. I have had very little education and so I have never had a job where I can earn a good income. My family rely on our livestock to survive but last winter was really heavy snow and five of our cattle were trapped. We couldn’t do anything about it. This devastated my family.
The first batch of My First Job trainees have graduated in August. After 90 days of training, they have learned the basic skills of cooking as well as various dishes to help them as they start on their new careers.

After her divorce, Drolgakyid has to raise her three lovely daughters on her own, as well as face the shame and pressure from her family.
A village director from one of the towns in Western China learned about Captivating and the My First Job Program through one of our program coordinators. She expressed the need for the training to be conducted for the women in her village as people who don't own a land to till are hoping to find another way to support their family.
On August 3, the third My First Job program this year was launched wherein 30 women were accommodated.
