One of our projects in the Philippines is the Blessed House project wherein we rescue and journey with women and children who have been victims of human trafficking and cybersex crimes. As we close this project this year, we are transitioning these girls to a life of hope and restoration.
One of these girls is Karen. Just recently, we celebrated Karen’s (name changed for privacy) 7th birthday.
The older Blessed House trainees made her dress, the others cooked delicious food, and they all contributed to make the party happen. Karen, together with her younger brother and her mom who is deaf and mute, was rescued from online sexual exploitation when she was only 5 years old.
Our Blessed House project cared for their whole family, assisted them in their legal case, and worked with other groups to find a family to care for them.
Just a few days after Karen’s birthday, our HONOR staff drove them to another province, transitioned them to their new family and enrolled Karen in her new school.
It is difficult enough to look for alternative care for one OSEC survivor, so to be able to find a family who will take care of 3 OSEC survivors is indeed a victory.
