Lifting a Family’s Financial Burden Through the Chicken Breeding Project

Legu Morezi is a 34-year-old woman from Daliangshan in Sichuan Province. She has always faced life’s challenges with unwavering determination. Growing up in a poor family and never having the chance to attend school, she learned to navigate the hardships of life with resilience and resourcefulness. Today, Legu is married with four daughters, living a humble life as an ordinary farmer alongside her husband.

Legu’s family is composed of six members: her husband, who works tirelessly on their small farm, her eldest and second daughters, who are both in the third grade of primary school, and her third and fourth daughters, who are still too young to attend school. Despite their hard work, the family struggles to make ends meet, with an annual income of just over 10,000 yuan (USD 1,376).

The Morezi family’s income is mainly from selling piglets and cattle. This income is supplemented occasionally by selling crops such as potatoes, buckwheat, and oats. Their 1.5 acres of land provide the necessary resources for their livelihood. Still, the income generated is barely enough to cover the children’s tuition and daily family expenses, amounting to around 10,000 yuan (USD 1,376) a year.

Legu in their home

Legu feels the weight of her family’s financial struggles. This worry is heightened by her lack of education, which limits her ability to improve their economic situation.

Through these challenges, a glimmer of hope has arrived in the form of the Captivating Chicken Breeding Project. This initiative has reached Daliangshan, offering Legu a chance to change her family’s lifestyle. The project aims to provide professional training in livestock breeding, a prospect that fills Legu with newfound optimism.

Legu sees a path to increase their income and secure a better future for her daughters. The training promises to improve their success in livestock farming and empower Legu with the tools to break free from the cycle of poverty that has long gripped her family.

Legu’s dream is simple yet profound: to learn, grow, and provide her daughters with opportunities she never had. The Captivating Chicken Breeding Project has brought a ray of hope to Legu’s family, offering them a chance to build a brighter future through hard work, education, and perseverance.
