Traffickers Switch to Online Exploitation Amidst Pandemic

"As schools are closed and majority of people stay in their homes due to the threat of COVID-19, the incidence of livestreams of child sex abuse has increased," says a report from a local news channel in the Philippines.

Parent Advocates

Aside from cybersex crime, another main issue in provinces in the Philippines is the lure of working in the cities, usually in Manila. Through the Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign, parents are educated and encouraged to be more vigilant in protecting their children.

Stranger Danger

The Online Safety Campaign is conducted by Honor 1000 Movement in elementary public schools in the Philippines not only to raise awareness on human trafficking, but also to inform the students what immediate actions they could take should they experience malicious activities online.

Seeking Justice Against Perpetrator

Most victims of cybersex are young children who aren't even aware that they are being abused. The work that our partners do is crucial in coming alongside them in realizing they are being abused and that there is help. The Blessed Project exists to help rehabilitate young women and girls who have fallen prey to traffickers and the online world of cybersex.

Dedication to Protect Children

Our 2019/2020 project plan is to reach students in two of the known trafficking hotspots in the Philippines and expand throughout other regions as the year continues. In total, we aim to reach 7,800 students. We continue to hear stories about exploitation and abuse from students. We cannot and will not stop this fight to protect children from cybersex crimes.

Stopping Cybersex Crime in the Philippines

With the start of the new academic year in the Philippines, our partner, Honor 1000 Movement have once again started the Stop Cybersex program in public schools. This is an important strategy to trafficking prevention. With the Philippines being 1st in the world for cybersex crime, this is a vital part of what we do.

Responsible Use of Technology

The team taught the kids not only how to protect themselves from the lurking dangers in the virtual world, but also how to be responsible with technology. The kids learned how to protect themselves from cyber bullying, how to respond when they experience it, and how to promote respect and be responsible members of the online community.
