Chicken Farming Project Gives Hope to Struggling Mothers

The Chicken Farming Project in China continues to enable more women to run their chicken businesses successfully.

This program aims to increase the income of 90 rural families in remote areas of Sichuan, China, by providing them with quality chicks, feeds, and ongoing training on the latest techniques and methods to run a successful home-based chicken business. One of the things we do as a team is to visit our members and check up on them through follow-up visits. This time, we visited Lu Niuniu.

During our conversation, we learned about her current living conditions. Lu Niuniu is 75 years old and lives with her daughter and granddaughter. Because of her old age, she has no choice but to rely solely on her daughter to sustain them as a family. That was until an opportunity came knocking at their door through the Chicken Farming Project.

Lu Niuniu’s daily expenses include basic living costs and medical treatments. Due to her health issues, she incurs substantial monthly medical expenses. The financial burden on her children is immense, making it challenging for them to cover her expenses. Since she doesn’t own any land, her primary source of income is government subsidies. She emphasized that this project allows her to alleviate the economic burden on her children and herself by raising chickens. Lu Niuniu expressed her gratitude for the significant help she received through the program.

Regarding the Chicken Farming Project, she mentioned that all the distributed chicks have successfully grown, and she takes care of them diligently. She remains optimistic and determined that her chicken business will flourish and be successful.

The Chicken Farming Project gave hope to people who feel they are already beyond their years to help and provide for their families. For people like Lu Niuniu, we are grateful to fill her heart with hope as she continues to improve their way of life through this project.
