September at Captivating Shenzhen

Captivating has had an incredible September filled with exciting involvement throughout Guangdong Province. We are incredibly grateful to have so many friends helping us to work toward reversing poverty and giving girls an open door to education and medical attention. It has been truly incredible to be invited to take part in so many activities.

British Day Shenzhen 2015
The month started by participating in an ace day at the British Day Shenzhen on September 12th, 2015. Hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong at the China-UD College Shenzhen, we were able to join several other charities and experience a bit of British Culture. There was lots of fun to be had by all including food & beverage, music, games & activities, and tons of prizes. This was a great time for us to get to have a good chin wag with new friends.

Any road, we are extremely thankful to be given the opportunity to be at this event and if you do not attend this even next year, you surly are barmy. Best of British!

SWIC Don’t Worry, Be Happy!
Every year the Shenzhen Women’s International Club gather together for a huge welcome back breakfast. This year it was held at the Marco Polo hotel and SWIC invited us to come for the fun! The gorgeous ballroom was filled with beautiful women enjoying a breakfast fit only for a queen! We were delighted to be invited to this event and have the opportunity to reconnect with so many ladies who we have not seen in so many months.

Our appreciation to SWIC and their support to Captivating can hardly be expressed with words. If you are a new expat residing in Shenzhen, this is a great group of friends who will help you find support when settling into this great city.  Check out their website for more info.  swiconline.com

Urban Family 1st Annual SPORTS DAY
On September 19th, 2015 Urban Family and That’s PRD hosted a family sports day at Shen Wai International School. Kids 5 years old and older came to play with Soccer Rangers™, Five-Star Sports, Golf Joy and Skyway Football. Children four years and younger worked with coaches from UP Children to play various games including gymnastics.

Our Captivating booth held a silent auction whereby sponsors of the event donated items for auction. HH Gourmet, Maison Delice, Loft Eatalicious, Vittel Water, and Nogogo Online Groceries were there providing food and beverage. Other sponsors included Vista-SK International Medical Center, CO-TALK Chinese School, UBER, and HarMoniCare Shenzhen Women & Children’s Hospital.

Urban Family chose Captivating International to be the event charity partner. We are so grateful to have such wonderful supporters that we can call friends. It was not only an athletic filled day, but also a day committed to children!

Back to School BBQ #3 Raising 38,000 RMB
On Sunday, September 13th at Shooter’s in Dongguan, Treasures of Hope hosted the Back to School BBQ #3. This is an annual event whereby the community of Dongguan comes together to make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and adults in China. Many international schools in Dongguan joined together to collect donated school supplies and sale event tickets. Some of Dongguan’s most famous bakers and bakeries came together to sponsor a dessert auction and Shooters cooked up delicious BBQ!

Treasures Of Hope has been a long time local supporter of Captivating International’s Project Eden. The school supplies were collected and delivered by TOH staff and QSI students following the event.

We are overjoyed at the amount to involvement Captivating has been invited to take part in this month. We know that it is only because strong communities that we are able to continue to make a difference in the lives of children struggling with poverty. A big “Thank you” from all of us at Captivating!
