HET: Tara’s Tailoring Story
We visited Tara, a Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program graduate. Despite challenges, she is now thriving with two years in tailoring, sewing from home while caring for her daughter.
With the long Qinghai winter coming to an end, so starts the beginning of what will be a very active greenhouse construction summer for Captivating and our local charity partner, Shamtse.
As we write this, 141 families (mostly single mother households) are waiting in great expectation for their Captivating greenhouse to be constructed. All of this is thanks to over 100 generous people funding 100 greenhouses at the October 2017 annual Shenzhen Captivating Charity Auction, and with all funds being generously matched by the team at GPA Global. As a result, 100 moms now look forward to improved cash incomes and more confidence they can keep their children in school.
So, starting next month and continuing through till October, construction will begin across 4 different counties in Qinghai Province. Qualifying families have already been interviewed and selected by Shamtse Charity, and the fun now begins. We’ll keep you updated from time to time on progress and success stories.
Thanks again to our amazing support base, GPA Global, the Shenzhen Charity Federation, and the incredible on the ground work by Carrie and the team at Shamtse Charity.
