Li Ming Dares to Dream

Li Ming is one of the scholars under the One More Year Scholarship Program in China. She is extremely grateful for all the support and help she receives from our generous donors. She came from a blended family of seven, with five children still in school. Her mother works hard on the farm and diligently takes care of them, while her father works out of town. Her father’s salary is their family’s primary income. Li Ming felt helpless as a student because she couldn’t do much to help her parents at such a young age:

Dear Sponsor:

Hello, I am Li Ming, a Xi De Wa Er School student, and I want to express my gratitude for your support and help! Thanks to your timely support, our family’s urgent needs were solved, easing my parents’ burden. Thank you so much!

After receiving financial support, I was able to focus on my studies without worrying about living expenses and tuition fees. However, during the first month of high school, I struggled to adapt to a different environment compared to middle school. I needed more patience and motivation, and as a result, I failed my monthly exam. I suddenly felt that I had no hope to continue my education and wanted to give up. But my parents encouraged me, as always, and told me to persevere despite the hardships and not let them and the sponsors down. Moved by my parents’ words, I finally pulled myself together and faced my shortcomings. I realized that I couldn’t concentrate on my studies because I wasn’t using the proper methods and was not particularly interested. So, I slowly adjusted my mindset, started learning from the best students in the class, and actively asked the teacher for advice on things I didn’t understand after school. As a result, my learning gradually improved.

The most impressive part of this semester was the school’s Yi Year festival, organized for all teachers and students. We were all disappointed that we couldn’t go home to spend the holiday with our families. Fortunately, the school felt our longing and organized the festival on campus to fulfill our wishes. Overall, school life has given me an exciting experience, and I feel thrilled to learn and grow.

Once again, thank you for your selflessness and kindness, which warmed me. I will dare to dream and follow my dreams and do everything step by step to move forward in life as a way to thank my parents, repay society, and repay your help. Finally, I wish you good health and all the best!
