When we first met Neeta a few months ago in Nepal, she lacked confidence and had low self-esteem. She is a 50-year-old mother of four and was desperate to contribute to their family’s finances. She had to rely on her husband to provide for their needs, and it wasn’t easy to support the whole family with just one income.

When she learned about the poultry farming training through one of our staff in Captivating Nepal, she was thrilled and excited about the prospect of doing something on her own. Although she already has experience when it comes to raising chickens, the 3-day training on poultry farming helped her see it from a small business entrepreneur standpoint. This was a new and enlightening perspective for her. Then the additional two days of training on women empowerment and entrepreneurship pushed her out of her comfort zone and boosted her confidence when it comes to doing business.

Neeta gained a good understanding of marketing procedures and basic financing through comprehensive training. With financial support from Captivating Nepal, she started her chicken farming business with 20 Giriraj chickens and applied everything she had learned during the training. Out of the 20 chickens, 19 were sold in the market (1 died), resulting in a profitable first attempt. This success further encouraged her and boosted her confidence.

Today, she has doubled her number of chickens and remains dedicated to poultry farming. Neeta’s hard work and enthusiasm have proven that dedication and encouragement can lead to success. Her husband shares: “We are so proud of her dedication at every step. The positive transformation in her confidence makes us very proud of her. We are extremely grateful to Captivating Nepal for the support and for providing this opportunity.”
