Last year, our Captivating Village Development Program (CVP) partners in Nepal hosted a leadership and public speaking training program in villages Bijauna, Gadauli, and Mahadevtar. 37 students attended and they were taught to understand the key principles of leadership and develop the ability to guide, inspire, and influence others.

The participants were introduced to various concepts such as teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, and practicing responsibility. There was also a public speaking skills part of the training whose main objective is to help students learn and develop leadership principles and effective communication to confidently express their thoughts and ideas.

Effective public speaking allows students to express their thoughts clearly and confidently, and to improve their persuasive skills. The training focused on helping students overcome the fear of speaking in front of others, improve their articulation, and coherently organize their ideas. Hopefully, this skill could be applied to enhance their ability to communicate in interviews, presentations, and group discussions.

The students were thrilled to receive such comprehensive training. Many expressed how grateful they were for the opportunity to learn leadership and public speaking skills, as these were areas they had little exposure to in the past. They recognized the value of these skills and felt more prepared to face future challenges with newfound confidence. Moreover, it gives us hope that the enthusiasm they showed during the training indicated their eagerness to apply what they learned, both in their studies and future endeavors.
