The Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women provides sewing and life skills training to 30 women aged 20–35 from remote areas in Qinghai Province, China each year. In over three months, participants with low education levels gain tailoring skills, basic literacy, and money management skills to enable them to earn sustainable incomes, support their families, and achieve financial independence.

Sewing Skills Bringing Joy to Her Family

One of the recipients of this help is Sangde Drolma, a mother of 3 children from Maixiu Town in Qinghai. She worked on an internship at Nuopei Clothing Store from September 1 to October 31, 2024. In just two months, she earned CNY 1,000 (USD 140) while honing her sewing skills at the same time! She also learned about niche skills like button sewing and packing. A true win-win situation for Sangde.

After reflecting on her experience, she shared:

“Through my internship, I actively participated in the various stages of clothing production—cutting, laying, positioning, sewing, and inspecting finished products. This hands-on experience familiarized me with all aspects of clothing production and significantly improved my practical skills.”

Sangde’s dedication didn’t end with her internship. Now, she chooses to continue working at the Nuopei, where her income brings added happiness to her family—particularly her three children and elderly parents. Her journey is a testament to the positive impact of hard work and skill development in enhancing family well-being.
