As we continue our fight against cybersex awareness, we recognize that not many Filipinos are aware of OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children). We make it our mission to spread the word in the most vulnerable communities to help save children from exploitation. Our awareness campaign has been ongoing for months now, and we continue to see relevant impact in our efforts.

One of the students who has been part of our campaign in Bataan shares her experience. A classmate borrowed the student’s phone and forgot to log it out. When she returned, the student noticed some alarming signs of OSAEC-related transactions in her friend’s account. She immediately reported what she saw to their teachers, who immediately reported it to the authorities.

The local government authorities led by the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) , which we are actively involved with, quickly scheduled a meeting with Jhemma, our social worker, for a case conference from our partner organization—Sanghaya Foundation. Sanghaya is known for its credibility and extensive experience in handling sensitive cases and was also seen as the most capable organization to provide the child victim with the support she needed.

If it weren’t for our awareness efforts, the child would not have caught the red flags to begin with, and her friend could have been further exploited. In times like this, coordinated efforts from the local government and our partner organizations must be addressed with utmost urgency and care.
