We just love looking back to see how far we’ve come! Last March, we met with some of our most active coordinators and reminisced about stories since they started joining the One Hope Microfinance Program (OH). Our coordinators are also fellow beneficiaries who have availed of our microfinancing in the past. They know what it feels like to be the ones in need, as much as they know how it feels to have their lives improved since joining. In our little gathering, they shared the most rewarding aspects of their roles, agreeing that the greatest fulfillment truly comes from helping others, like their fellow mothers.

You can tell how much heart they put into helping others. Sometimes, our coordinators would even take from their own pockets to cover a client’s weekly contribution. They believe that helping each other through difficult times is the point of all of this. They also exchanged tips with one another, such as creating group chats to quickly share announcements and address concerns within their groups. True enough, these efforts blossomed, forming strong bonds among their respective fellowship groups.

During our time together, we emphasized the importance of their leadership in playing a vital role in their groups’ successes. We reminded them of the symbiotic relationship we create within our partnerships. Their successes make the Microfinance Program successful, and no effort is left unappreciated.

And that, we think, is the true meaning of community.
