In our effort to spread awareness against OSAEC, we reached out to Barangay Escopa 3 and were granted an initial meeting. We are delighted by how receptive they were when we introduced our online safety campaign! As we explained what we do and how it could impact them, they nodded along, later expressing how they saw the value in our efforts. They said that this kind of education is good for both children and parents, due to the increasing online risks in a time when children are becoming increasingly unsupervised with their online activities.
Moreover, the council shared the difficult realities faced by many families in their community. Some children chose to leave school because of how poor they are and instead collected and sold junk to increase their family’s income—even by just a little. When those were not enough, they turned to suspicious online platforms to earn quick cash.

After a few weeks, we went back to Escopa 3 to officially seal our partnership. What’s next? We will be distributing 1,000 advocacy booklets to the community and will be conducting online safety seminars that will engage children, parents, and community leaders.
We are always thankful for the warm welcome and willingness to collaborate with the communities that we reach out to. This is only one partnership out of the numerous ones we have made in the past and will continue to have in the future. Together, we take meaningful action to protect children in high-risk communities like Escopa 3.
