Continuing our efforts to spread awareness against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), we hosted an online safety seminar at Tucop Integrated School in Bataan. It was led by our social worker, Jhemma, and was attended by 50 members and non-members of the faculty of elementary and junior high school levels.

The participants expressed their appreciation by saying that the seminar was relevant and informative. As teachers and school staff, they interact with children daily. It puts them into a special position to observe and intervene when students show signs of OSAEC or abuse in their homes. In some cases, children also feel much more comfortable opening up to a trusted teacher than their own parents or relatives. Moving forward, they said that they would incorporate the responsible use of the internet and mobile devices into their lessons, transferring the knowledge of spotting red flags of OSAEC and protecting themselves against it.

By empowering these 50 school personnel, we are indirectly reaching and protecting up to 2,500 more students in Tucop Integrated School. Each teacher and staff member has the capacity to influence and safeguard the many children under their care, ensuring that OSAEC would not be tolerated in their community.
