In November 29, our partner community, Barangay Loyola Heights, hosted a Children’s Day Celebration in partnership with us. The theme was “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” (End OSAEC-CSAEM: Fight for Children’s Rights and Safety!). It was attended by 400 children aged 10 to 15 years old from the slum communities of Barangay Loyola Heights.

Ma’am Kit, an awareness campaign partner and advocate, delivered a short yet impactful speech to the children about the dangers of OSAEC-CSAEM. Given children’s regular and normalized access to social media and gaming platforms, Ma’am Kit reminded them never to share personal information with strangers.

After that, Trizia conducted an even more in-depth awareness and online safety seminar. She discussed how OSAEC affects many Filipino children due to the Philippines remaining to be one of the identified centers of this type of exploitation. She also shared how Captivating International and Barangay Loyola Heights are actively partnering to prevent these through awareness campaigns, continuous education, community coordination, and child protection activities. She strongly emphasized that children play a vital role in protecting themselves. They do so by being informed, staying alert, and using education as a powerful tool against exploitation. The children were also reminded to always think critically about what they see, hear, and read online, and to practice responsible sharing and posting on the internet.

When the program ended, we extended our appreciation to Barangay Loyola Heights for the continued work we do together. Because of them, residents and children are continuously being mobilized to stand together and fight against OSAEC.
