We take our Anti-OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children) efforts very seriously. And in our efforts to spread the word against it, we recently visited Barangay Novaliches Proper to formally establish our partnership with them in strengthening local efforts to protect children.

Formalizing our partnership with the barangay leaders of Barangay Novaliches Proper to strengthen community efforts against OSAEC.

During the signing, we spoke with the Barangay Captain, Barangay councilor, and BCPC members (Barangay Council for the Protection of Children; a local body in a barangay that promotes and protects children’s rights). There, we agreed on one very important point: raising OSAEC awareness in the community is crucial. We talked about ways to educate children and parents about it, while also equipping barangay workers with the knowledge and skills to properly identify, handle, and respond to cases of OSAEC.

The barangay leaders expressed their interest in working closely with local public schools because they recognize the important role of teachers in creating safe spaces for children and influencing them to speak out when something is wrong. The leaders are excited to organize activities that will empower both students and teachers in their community!

All that is left is to walk this talk. Our next meetings will be on the plans for how to turn these ideas into fruition. Through this partnership, we continue to build stronger, more informed communities that are equipped to protect children and promote their safety and well-being.
