Women’s Safe Haven (WSH) provides a safe space for women and girls to heal from domestic abuse, human trafficking, and other forms of violence. Our main safe house and vocational training center in Pokhara provides a comfortable and safe accommodation for these women to process their trauma and go out in the world stronger.

Healing can look different for everyone. Some need rest and recovery, while others need to learn new skills to prevent repeating the terrible things that happened to them. Our haven is just a place that could help a girl get back on her feet, and our main mission is to help her cultivate a safe space within herself by the time she leaves. WSH transit homes are also supported in two other locations in Nepal.

How it Works

WSH provides some essential support to women and girls through:

Counseling and medical attention

We immediately seek medical attention for those who are physically hurt. After that, we help her process what she had gone through with the aid of our competently trained and compassionate counselors.

It is never the victim’s fault, and we help her realize that self-forgiveness is the first step to healing. Our counselors also provide practical strategies to regain her confidence and zest for life.

Safety

The beneficiary must not only be safe but also feel safe. We do this by making her feel heard and less alone in her healing process. Beneficiaries could socialize and relate to each other’s stories and form meaningful bonds.

Rest and Recovery

The quality of the environment is of paramount importance for those who heal. WSH provides comfortable accommodation for girls for increased recuperation.

Skills Building

We value growth and sustainability. The haven is not only a place where they rest, but it is also a place where she can learn valuable skills to provide for herself financially. This way, she won’t need to resort to unsafe and dangerous means of income.
