Our Manila Slum Project helps support girls from vulnerable families by funding their schooling. Every month they will receive financial support and in return, their parents must attend our regular meetings for check-ins on their children’s progress. They are also required to attend seminars that cover important topics like OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children) awareness and online safety. Future sessions will also focus on parenting effectiveness, as guided by the DSWD’s Parenting Effectiveness Service (PES). These efforts help our girls grow into kind, responsible, and well-rounded individuals.

Two of our beneficiaries are Mhai and Jenny, both 9th-graders. Last year, they began volunteering as tutors for younger children in their neighborhood at Ronas Garden. Every Saturday, we gather younger children at a nearby park for reading lessons, and our two girls are very happy to impart learning to these young minds.

In these sessions, one can see how much Mhai and Jenny have grown through our program’s help. When we met them, they were young girls selling on the streets, with eyes shining with hope—and now, they are educated girls who use their knowledge to teach and inspire younger generations. How lovely!

The sight that we see on Saturdays at the park is the end goal that we dream of for our beneficiaries. Seeing those that we have helped, helping others in return highlights the beauty of kindness in this world. The ripple effect of goodness transcends spaces, time, and generations.
