Microloans: Moving Families Towards Sustainable Living

The Microfinance Program not only aims to provide assistance to impoverished yet determined mothers who wish to start their own small business, but works to see them succeed and improve their lives. This helps reduce the risk of being lured into the world of trafficking and cybersex to gain income.

Diosing is a mother of eight children. With so many mouths to feed, she and her husband were always looking for ways to provide for their large family but each day was a struggle. When she learned about the Honor 1000 Microfinance Program,  she did not hesitate to apply for a microloan. Through the small loan, she was able to add to her struggling hog raising and fish vending business.

Her small business is growing and her income has increased. Now on her third loan cycle, Diosing is able to start putting money away, saving for possible medical emergencies and their future. Her eight children now have the confidence that they will be able to complete their primary school, as well as access to higher education. They are also very excited to have electricity now connected to their house.

This large family is on their way to sustainability and independence. Not only is Diosing providing added income for her family but she is also showing her children that women can be successful small business owners.

Because of the amazing support of our donors, 2,249 women and their families are part of the Microfinance Program in the Philippines.
