The Lasting Effect of Educating Underprivileged Communities
Juni's family struggled financially due to their large size, so she left school to work alongside her father as a laborer at just twelve years old
Angel is one of our Captivating Village Program (CVP) beneficiaries from a village called Ramantar in Nepal. Her father abandoned their family and remarried while her mother struggled to raise her as a single mother. Angel used to attend school. Unfortunately, her mother was diagnosed with a stomach tumor a few years ago, which made her unfit to work and made Angel unable to attend school any longer.
The family was financially struggling, and Angel was on the verge of dropping out. So when the family was informed about the scholarship program that CVP is offering her, they were more than happy to send her to school again.
This quarter, our field coordinator visited her along with her teacher. According to her teacher, Angel initially struggled with Math but has progressively improved her studies. She also became more active in various programs conducted by the school, including participating in the dance program of the recently held school’s parent’s day program.
It’s an amazing sight to witness these girls flourishing not only in academics but also in their social skills as well.
