Continuing the fight against human trafficking in Nepal

3 Angels Nepal (3AN) continues to work tirelessly to fight human trafficking in Nepal. This involves many hours each day in very confronting and distressing circumstances.  At our Captivating funded anti-trafficking stations alone during the month of September, over 300 women were intercepted, interviewed and concluded to be “AT HIGH RISK” of being in the very process of transfer from seller to buyer. 3AN staff are trained to spot suspicious circumstances and have the authority to stop any person trying to cross the open border and interview them. In most cases, everything is fine, however, if certain risk factors look high, then police are brought in to jointly investigate each situation thoroughly.

Sometimes this next step takes a few hours, sometimes several days. But, in the case of the 300 women just mentioned, the joint decision was made that the risk factors were too high – all pointing towards this being a trafficking situation. Most of these women were escorted home to the safety of their families.

Of the 300 women intercepted, 20 women required further support in the form of safe-house accommodation, counselling and encouragement as further investigations took place to lay charges against their traffickers.

Captivating is very proud to be partnering with 3AN as one of our Nepal based implementing partners. In addition, our partnership with Asian Aid in Australia is incredibly beneficial. Asian Aid have been in partnership with 3AN since their inception. Working together, we can bring change. These rescues are only possible because of the financial support received by people who are passionate about stopping human trafficking. If you would like to part of saving lives, please email andrewc@captivating.org or juliec@captivating.org to find out how to be an invaluable financial supporter.
