Educated, Safe & Empowered

Sheena (*name changed for privacy) is one of the daughters at Women’s Safe Haven who has set an impressive record for graduating high school. She was interviewed on our radio program, 3 Angels Community Radio (3ACR), for a “Nepali Daughter” segment to share her transformed life through 3 Angels Nepal. She was referred to the haven by one of our branches in 2019. Despite facing extreme poverty and being on the verge of being trafficked four years ago, she was able to continue her education. Sheena is the first beneficiary from Safe Haven to graduate high school, and she is from a rural village in the hilly region of Sindhupalchowk. After the death of her father and her mother abandoning her, she had to drop out of school and work in guest houses in Kathmandu.

Woman Being Interviewed in a Radio Program

Our Host During the Interview

Today, she is not only educated and safe but also empowered. She now volunteers to help care for other beneficiaries at the Haven and has recently joined a bachelor’s program for further education. Sheena expressed immense gratitude to the organization in the interview for being there for her during her difficult and vulnerable times. She emphasized that not everyone is lucky enough to have access to a safe place to stay, counselors to talk to, and the opportunity to study and build a better future.

Sheena’s interview highlights the organization’s crucial role in supporting, educating, and providing opportunities to vulnerable girls. Her appreciation for the chance to study and improve her life illustrates the organization’s empowerment of vulnerable girls and survivors. The organization’s efforts to combat human trafficking and provide essential support to those affected are key measures of its success.
