Rescued After Years of Abuse

Mia and Marie (names changed for security and privacy) had to endure abuse for years until they were finally rescued earlier this year.

The Blessed Project in the Philippines (through partnership with Captivating and Global Development Group) helps provide physical, educational support, emotional support and for survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking. These 3 women are survivors and enjoying their newly found freedom in a Math tutoring class.

Though we continue to feel the effects of the pandemic and prolonged lockdown in the Philippines, 6 women and 6 children have been successfully reintegrated with their families or into new homes.
16 children have been rescued from online sexual abuse and exploitation. Most of them experienced the abuse from their own families and relatives. These children are now safe in our shelter, receiving the counselling and support they need to start rebuilding their lives.
The prolonged pandemic in the Philippines has created issues that required necessary adjustments, especially for the women and children in The Blessed Project who are still in school and/or have ongoing court cases.
Three minors have been rescued from the abuse of livestream online sexual exploitation in a sting operation led by the local police and are now receiving proper trauma-informed care and interventions.
Early in 2019, the slum area where Kara and her family lived caught fire. Kara was homeless so she decided to live with her friends. One of her friends introduced her to a woman who promised to give her a job. Little did she know that the woman would exploit her.
