OMY: Mose to Become A Doctor
Mose, a bright and determined student, dreams of becoming a doctor after witnessing her illiterate parents face discrimination at a hospital.
In the summer of 2024, 402 graduates from the One More Year (OMY) Scholarship Program were filled with excitement and anticipation as they prepared to start a new chapter in their lives. These scholars came from 17 schools in China across Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Liangshan. These bright young minds embarked on their OMY journey in 2021, fueled by dreams and the unwavering support of caring sponsors.
After three years of hard work, 375 students took the national college entrance exam, while 22 chose other exams. By mid-August, admission letters will arrive, each promising a bright future. For three years, they poured their hearts into their studies, navigating the challenges and triumphs of high school life. Their hard work and determination were now bearing fruit.
The project staff provided invaluable guidance, helping students with their applications and selecting suitable schools and majors.
The journey from remote regions to prestigious universities was not just a transition; it was a testament to their resilience and community support.
In September, these 402 graduates will embark on their new journey, entering university life with high hopes and dreams. The OMY program not only provided them with education but also instilled in them the confidence to pursue their passions and carve their paths.
As the OMY program staff and sponsors watched these young scholars take flight, we shared in the excitement and nervousness. Together, we prayed for the students’ success, knowing they had laid the foundation for a brighter future. Each student carried a story of perseverance and transformation, shining as a beacon of hope for future generations. Their success proved that with the right support and opportunities, dreams could come true.
