Memorable Encounter between Trainees and Program Partner

My First Job Assistant Chef Program for 30 women officially starts today.

These women, along with the program coordinator and Captivating staff, were also very happy to meet the six representatives from our program partner, Zuru.

The women each shared their story. Most of them are single young women and single mothers who have never attended school or only had little education. Hearing that teachers are very professional and strict, they were very excited and a little nervous. Nevertheless, they look forward to receiving professional cooking training and then finding a job to create a better future for their families and children.

Thanks to Zuru and the 12th Annual Charity Auction for offering these 30 women a chance to change their lives.

New Skills and Confidence

I only went to school for three years as a little girl because my parents couldn’t afford to send me anymore. Now that I have a son, I know it is my duty to provide for him but it is not easy when I have no education or skills. I am Jorbakyid and this is my story.

Easing the Family's Burden

Drolmatso, 27, lives with her family of seven members in a remote area. She mostly stays home to take care of the household, look after their children and send them to school, and assist her elderly in-laws. They solely depend on her husband and the income he earns from his part-time jobs. Because of this, Drolmatso wishes to learn a new skill which she can use to earn a living and help lessen her husband's burden of supporting the whole family.
