Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women Resumes After a Productive Break
The Husky Energy Tailoring (HET) Skills Program for Women Program in China resumes after taking a break to make way for the Cordyceps season.
Starting now, an entire village of 43 families, 441 people and their 87 children are beginning to dream again. Thanks to full funding from Shenzhen based company, GREEN PACKAGING ASIA, our new sustainable greenhouse project kicked off on the 7th of July 2015. Through the course of the next 2 months of construction and training, 43 greenhouses will be built and families equipped on how to produce the best and highest yielding crops. GREEN PACKAGING ASIA have funded the materials and skilled expertise costs making this project possible, with the villagers supplying the labor as well as their own personal financial contribution to the project as required by the planning team and the village committee. Once completed, all members of the Tsrelong Village, a semi nomadic community in Jantsa County, Qinghai, will be able to produce all the vegetables they need for their own consumption, as well as hopefully having more to take to market. This will enable them to both save and generate more income for their families; purchase daily necessities that they could not previously afford; and ensure their children remain in school for longer. Additionally, it is expected this project will improve everyone’s vegetable consumption levels, and in the process improve the capability of children to perform and concentrate better in their studies.
Captivating is so pleased to be working with Green Packaging Asia and thank them for their support. Updates will be provided throughout the project and we look forward to sharing with you the difference this project has made to these families – helping them to reach out for a better tomorrow.
