Luo Yuqian is one of the many students who are able to continue her studies through the One More Year Scholarship Program. This is her letter to her sponsors.
“Hello!
I cannot contain my joy whenever I pick up my pen to write to you. Although we have never met, you have always been a great help to me. Your assistance has provided me with both spiritual and material support, and I consider you a close friend. I am writing to share my sadness and happiness with you once again.
Let’s start with the happy news! I ranked in the top 600 in the final exam in Qiannan province, and my teacher said that I could enter first-tier universities. While I am thrilled to share this news with you, I am still looking to make more progress. I hope to return a satisfactory answer in a year and a half and share my joy with you!
Unfortunately, my mother left to work in Guangdong, leaving only my grandmother, brother, and nephew at home. I feel sad because my house is now empty. However, I had a fun and laborious time doing farm work with my mom during the holidays.
In addition to my academic achievements, I also have good news about the “Biofermentation Project Competition” at school. My team and I made molded tofu, which is made by fermenting tofu in a mixture of milk, meat, and vegetables for several months. It has a pungent and slightly sour taste with a soft and creamy texture. My classmates loved it and said it tasted like home. If you get the chance, I hope you can try it too.
Life at school is both fulfilling and challenging. I work hard with my classmates daily, but math still annoys me. Recently, I passed my martial arts test in PE class and am excited about it. I had been preparing for a long time and finally passed it in one go this time.
I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. If we ever get the chance to meet in person, I would love to hug you and take a photo together. It would be a cherished memory and a guiding light for my future. Lastly, I would love for you to try my molded tofu and share other exciting experiences with you.”
