Rezina is now a repeat borrower of the One Hope Microfinance Program! To secure a second loan, the first loan must not only be fully repaid but also be deemed successful in generating funds for our borrower. In Rezina’s case, she is indeed successful and currently expanding her small sari-sari store with a barbecue and fried chicken stand in the evening.

One of her bigger advantages in her small business? Her store is located along a highway with lots of foot traffic. One can only imagine how busy a normal day for Rezina would look like. But the biggest advantage that Rezina has in her business is much more precious than real estate: her community.

These milestones are without the mention of their fellowship’s coordinator, a simple mother like her who joined the program and became passionate enough to inspire other women to join in. Rezina met the coordinator at her kids’ elementary school and talked to her about One Hope. To her, it was not a coincidence that their children went to the same school. It was fate that they met and she got this kind of opportunity to improve their lives through entrepreneurship.

In the evenings, when Rezina is exhausted from a full day of entertaining customers, her husband helps to restock and man their little store in the evening. This story is a testament to how one’s community is vital to one’s success. A person’s capability and energy can only go so much, but being surrounded by supportive people like her loving husband and our fellowship’s coordinator—all is at ease with Rezina.
