Bam Maya (38) is a wife and a mother of one. Her husband is a farmer, but can only get seasonal work from other people’s lands. Her daughter is still young and in third grade, and they still have a long way to go in raising this child and ensuring she is set for a bright future.

Her financial hardships and anxieties pushed her to seek opportunities to find other sources of income. She joined our My Business-My Freedom Microfinance Program, through Ramantar’s women’s group. On her first loan, she took out NPR 20,000 (USD 145), with this money and her previous savings, she began her own grocery business.

Bam Maya immediately repaid the loan and earns up to NPR 25,000 (USD 181) monthly! The store is enough to cover their household expenses and have a little left for savings. From having a lot of anxiety due to their financial situation, Bam Maya is full of hope and inspiration for her child. She continues to express gratitude to our organization for supporting her entrepreneurial journey.
