Life in rural Qinghai is hard. And the grinding poverty is deepest for single moms who are on their own, taking care of their children and often elderly parents as well.
That’s why Captivating’s Greenhouse Project focuses predominantly on helping single moms. With a 50sqm Greenhouse, these women will be able to grow additional food and earn 70% more than they used to – all within the safety of their own homes. In fact, these greenhouses might be their only source of stable income. Suddenly they will have real choices, their families will eat healthier, they’ll be able to afford medical care, and their children will stay in school for longer.
On October 14, in Shenzhen China, we host our annual CAPTIVATING CHARITY AUCTION. This is a critical night of fundraising, helping us to achieve our program goals in China. We know not everyone can make it to the auction but are hoping you might still join hands with us from wherever you are in the world. This year, we hope you could get behind this program. It normally costs RMB3,000 / US$450 to build a 50sqm greenhouse. But our wonderful partners, GPA Global, will match every RMB1,500 / US$225 donated up to 100 greenhouses by midnight October 14.
