In the 5th grade, Prisha was forced to drop out of school due to their low household income.
When we found her, she was working at a hotel. She was said to work there because her parents sent her there to help them survive their everyday lives. But instead of helping the family, it was the opposite. A young girl like Prisha was mercilessly treated like a slave. She was never paid a single penny and was only given meals in exchange for her labor. Moreover, an environment like a hotel is the most horrible place to subject her to child molesters and sexual predators.
We needed to act fast. If no help was given, the child might only go back to the hotel, or worse, become a victim of sexual slavery not too long after. After rescuing her, we provided her with a step-by-step action plan to help her and her family get back on their feet.

With the help of the police and the local government, we first contacted her family to come and collect her. Secondly, her parents were invited to meet with the local social workers to let them know the harms of letting their daughter work in a place like that hotel. Next, we helped her parents enroll her in a local government school and helped her find long-term support for her schooling. As for her uniform and school supplies, we already have them covered! Upon further checking, her home is unlivable and unsafe for a girl like her, so she needs an improved environment where she can set her schooling priorities straight. Our third effort is to help rebuild their home by providing some bamboo frames for their house. To ensure a more sustainable income source, we gave her parents a few goats to herd for a sustainable income source. Lastly, we make sure to maintain constant communication with Prisha and her family to ensure that our efforts are truly helping her. In the future, we will add chickens and more goats to their little farm.
Through these sustainable efforts, we are confident that Prisha is set on a brighter path.
