A leader’s role is not just to move alone and expect others to follow, but rather she walks alongside others—guiding, inspiring, and uplifting those around them. A great leader moves mountains by herself, not to be the sole benefactor from it, but to show others that they can be moved, too.

Neeta (25) is an extraordinary woman who embodies the spirit of leadership and makes a remarkable impact as the president of the Chahareshwori Mothers’ Group. The women’s group was not originally registered as a legitimate group, but through her initiative, it’s now official! Currently, it has 30 active members.

Outside the women’s group, Neeta works as a primary school teacher. Not only that, she also manages her household and does farm work in her remaining time. How does she do all that? We have no idea! But she does it like a real force of nature.

As a president, she needs to be a visionary. Her role goes far beyond paperwork. She has a clear vision to uplift women in her community and bring about meaningful changes. She knows what to do because she also struggled before. But instead of becoming a victim of poverty, she looked for opportunities. Instead of seeing herself at the bottom of a pit, she believed there was no other way than up! In her difficult moments, she sought out the opportunities we offered at Captivating Nepal. She participated in our leadership and poultry farming training programs—through which she successfully generated extra income and made a profit.

Under her leadership, her group organized the first-ever celebration of International Women’s Day in their village! A truly unforgettable and groundbreaking celebration it was for a local community that previously saw women as second-class citizens, and had normalized violence and gender-based discrimination. The celebration signals that, like Neeta, women are worthy of their place in every space in society—not just in their homes. It was a proud moment not only for the group but for the entire community. Thanks to her initiative and dedication, the voices of women are finally being heard by both the community and the local municipality. Neeta is a living example that empowered women truly empower women in immeasurable ways!
