Kardotso is 31 years old, has a beautiful little girl and is expecting her second child mid 2018.
Because she has always been poor, Kardotso has never been to a doctor for a health check. After the birth of her first child, she became unwell however she was not able to see a doctor because of remote living and no funds. Kardotso, a recently new single mother after her husband left her, is currently living with her brother and his wife and their three children. Kardotso came along to the Healthy Village program held in her local township last week. She was so happy to receive medicine and hygiene products. “I have learnt so much from this program and now understand the importance of personal hygiene and I’ve also learnt how to better care for my baby,” Kardotso says with gratitude.
Over 200 women and 80 men have participated in the program in Kardotso’s township, receiving health checks, medicines and personal hygiene products. Change starts with information, knowledge is the first line of defense. Women like Kardotso, will now be able to share this knowledge with her daughter as she grows up.
