Our Pig Farming Program aims to increase families’ overall income and ensure that they can sustainably support their children’s education and well-being. We hope the families can earn a profit of CNY 5,000 to 8,000 [USD 700 to 1,120] per year from the pig business.
Today, we visited the home of Legejinli, a mother of four. She and her husband rely on farming, raising chickens, and keeping cattle to make a living. Although life is hard, their family possesses a quiet dignity, their home is neat and orderly, and her dream is simple yet profound: for her children to stay in school and walk out of the mountains toward a life of greater opportunity.

This dream says a lot about the quality of life they have in Rural China. To them, the city holds more opportunities, and to leave this part of the world is to “succeed”.
Legejinli and her husband have their own health issues that need regular medication. Her husband has difficulty walking, while she suffers from a foot injury. These health issues, combined with school fees and basic living costs, leave the family barely making ends meet.

“As long as my children can go to school, we can endure anything,” she says with a quiet smile.
When we mentioned the Pig Farming program, a spark lit up in her eyes. “I’m so grateful to be part of it,” she said. “If we can raise and sell the pigs, we’ll have money for more books, maybe a new pair of shoes for the kids.”
Mothers like Legejinli are not uncommon in rural villages. They may have little formal education, but they fully understand the weight of their responsibility towards their children. Real love and care need not be learned; it’s just…there.
Because of the Pig Farming program, mothers like Legejinli will have more income streams to improve their lives. We cannot help but admire her for pushing through despite everything that her family goes through. As we said goodbye, she smiled warmly—and we carried that warmth in our hearts, praying that all her wishes would come true.
