When the Social Development Department of Pokhara Metropolitan City requested a community awareness program about human trafficking and safe migration, we followed suit. Our Women’s Safe Haven and Vocational Center team reached out to Siddha Secondary School to host the event and raise awareness among adolescent-aged women and girls who are at a higher risk of human trafficking.

The awareness event was attended by 45 9th-grade students and was joined by their school principal and social studies teacher. The school admin and faculty made sure to show their full support for our program and cause.

During the discussions, the students actively engaged with the topic by asking questions about migration, employment, and personal safety. The teachers later expressed their appreciation by emphasizing the importance of conducting the said programs in their school and other nearby schools regularly. The principal also said that efforts like this help children make better decisions, should suspicious offers arise.

Overall, the program met its objectives, and we remain committed to our advocacy-related activities as we continue to connect with like-minded entities. More collaboration lies ahead with our partnership with Pokhara Metropolitan City for community-level prevention efforts.
