My First Job program – Getting women into jobs

After successfully completing the My First Job Home Services training program, 10 women are already in jobs. Their lives have turned around. Many of these women are illiterate and have never been to school. There were three core learning areas 1) Post natal mother and baby care  2) Aged Care  3) Professional Cleaning Services. The My First Job program has empowered these women with confidence, skills and friendships to last a lifetime. Those who are able to read have helped teach the alphabet and some basic words. A close knit group of women have been formed because of this program. Not only have many secured good jobs but everyone now has a group of friends who are encouraging and helping each other out. We are so proud of each of these women for stepping outside their comfort zone.

-Renchen is a Janitor in a hospital and absolutely loves her job. She is grateful for a stable job with regular income.

-Dondrubtso is a Personal Carer for an aged, disabled lady. Because of the My First Job Program, she knows how to give appropriate care.

-Lhamotso began working as a cleaner in a hotel but after the manager saw her quality work ethics and thoroughness, Lhamotso was promoted to working in the restaurant.

Thank you to Li & Fung Foundation and our family of sponsors who got behind these girls and gave them the opportunity of a lifetime.
