Work is now progressing to complete this 3 year dream. The 3-level building, which was started 3 years ago and basic structure completed in 2011, is now ready for fitting-out as a guest house and tea-room. If we can complete the fitout this summer, the guest-house will be open by October. Although it will take some time to get established, once fully operational it is expected that profits will fund up to 30% of the Girls Home operating costs. It will also provide employment for some of the older girls who can be trained in service and hospitality as well as learning valuable skills in running a business. Situated only a few minutes from the SGVTS this is a wonderful program expansion and sets this project on it’s way to self-sustainability.
This is a RMB365k project (US$58k) which brings so much potential to this project. Half of this is being funded from the success of the 2011 Shenzhen Charity Auction, but we still need additional support for the remaining US$29k. If you can help, please urgently contact andrewc@captivating.org.
