Our Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women provides sewing and life skills training to 30 women aged 20-35 from the remote areas of Qinghai Province, China each year. The program runs for three months where our participants gain tailoring skills, basic literacy, and money management skills. We hope that these skills will help them earn sustainable income that can support themselves and their families.

Early this year, we visited one of our beneficiaries, Tara (37). When we entered her home, a young girl wearing a blue dress happily showed off her apparel, saying it was made by her mother. It reminded us of the first time we met Tara. Two years ago, she had limited energy to attend training sessions and little schooling.
Whenever she encountered difficulties in her training, she did not hesitate to reach out to her teachers—proving her dedication to learning. Looking at the blue dress that she had sewn for her daughter, we could not be more proud of her. Tara does not take all the credit to herself as she emphasizes that she would not have learned what she learned now if it had not been for her trainer, Gabu.

After participating in our program, Tara entered the tailoring industry, where she has been working for two years now. Thankfully, the business she worked in gave her the flexibility to balance her family and work life. She sews clothes from home while taking care of her daughter.
Tara remains grateful for our organization for making a steady stream of income possible for women like her. Her home shared laughter and warmth, signaling a level of ease and contentment in her home.
