Planning for a Better Life Ahead

Liu is among the recipients of piglets distributed in our Pigs for Poverty Project in October 2019. After receiving her two piglets, she attended pig raising training and got her piglets vaccinated right away.

With proper care, Liu’s piglets have now grown into sows and one of them already gave birth to 12 little piglets two months ago. She intends to sell them in the coming weeks. She is also expecting the other sow to give birth within the next two months which will create still further income for her.

“I lost my husband three years ago. When he fell ill, we got into a huge debt because of his medical needs. Our family has experienced a lot of pressure since.

I have been living with my son who is now married and has two children. I help look after his kids while raising pigs and working in the farm with my daughter-in-law. My son used to be the only one who earns for the family. Now, I’m happy to be able to help him with the family’s finances. We were so happy when we received the pigs. Even in less than a year, we are already benefiting from it. We’ll be able to pay back our debts and eventually improve our living conditions.

Thank you so much for supporting me. It’s a great feeling to be able to plan and dream for a better life for me and my family, and all these happened because of your support and love. Thank you so much again!”
