Great Progress among Tailoring Skills Trainees

On May 1, 2021, the three-month Husky Energy (now part of the Cenovus group of companies) Tailoring Skills Program for Women officially began. In just over a month, the trainees have learned how to design clothes, how to measure sizes on drawings, and how to use sewing machines.

At the start of the training, none of the 30 women could use a sewing machine, but they came to the training with an eager attitude to learn. They have been taking their classes seriously and are helping each other a lot. Unfortunately, three women left the program during the first month due to personal and family reasons. Nonetheless, the remaining trainees continued to work hard – consulting with the teacher and making progress day by day.

On June 13, the staff and teachers conducted an assessment to check on the trainees’ progress. We are very proud to share that among the 27 trainees, 19 got a perfect score of 100, six other trainees got a score of 99, while the remaining two got 95 points.

We hope to see this level of performance and results continue with the trainees in the remaining month of training.

Thank you to Cenovus for funding this project.
