Critical part of our Captivating Kaili Village Development Project-Self help groups

Self help groups (SHGs) are a critical part of our Captivating Kaili Village Development Project.  There are seven SHGs in this project.  These groups help ensure that the project continue to run smoothly and successfully even after specialized help is no longer present on-site.

These SHGs will receive funds from Captivating and will be responsible for operating a local village bank – providing expertise and small business loans to families wanting to improve their living standard and income position.   The focus of the group will be animal husbandry and agricultural improvement as well as overall community development projects as deemed fit and necessary.

Local SHG’s participation in the planning and development of a project (which includes villagers’ inputs, local government resources, Heifer experts, Captivating Field Staff etc.) will help ensure that the goals set are achieved.  SHGs will also conduct training sessions on capacity increment, good corporate governance and sustainable development.

Here are some pictures of a SHG conducting a Participatory Self-review and Planning meeting with Heifer staff Mr. Zhou Li, Kaili husbandry bureau coordinator and trainers, Mr Pu Xue Dong and Ms Liu Li, Village Leader, Accountant and Cashier.
