OMY: Mose to Become A Doctor
Mose, a bright and determined student, dreams of becoming a doctor after witnessing her illiterate parents face discrimination at a hospital.
In 2023, thirty trainees enrolled in the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women, a three-month training course that taught tailoring skills. However, four students withdrew shortly after the training commenced for personal reasons. The training for this session was completed last November 5th, with a total of 26 participants graduating under the supervision of the program manager, Basang.
The coordination and project management for this training session exhibited a remarkable level of skill, drawing upon the lessons learned from previous years. The instructional component was equally commendable, with seasoned instructors adeptly pinpointing individual students’ areas for improvement and offering personalized guidance. Consequently, more than 20 out of the 26 trainees who successfully completed the session now possess the capability to independently execute a range of operations, such as cutting and sewing. The trainees showcased an impressive mastery of the training material, and it was heartening for Basang to discover their gratitude and satisfaction with the overall training experience.
However, even the best projects have areas that need improvement. Most students actively cooperated and displayed a serious attitude toward learning, managing to complete the daily coursework on time. But, some students had minor issues. For example, one student tended to arrive late and leave early frequently, which could have a negative impact on both the individual student and the overall class management. Nevertheless, Basang was very satisfied with the results of this training session. After three months, he found it commendable that these students could independently complete the learning content within the course design. He expressed that in the future, whenever the students need help or guidance, he is willing to do his best to assist them.
Finally, we express our gratitude to Husky for the support and hope provided to the women who participated in the program. We wish them success in their future careers and life.
